Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)<\/strong> is a rhythm-based arcade game developed by Konami, first released in Japan on November 18, 1998, and later in North America and Europe (as Dancing Stage). It is the first installment of the iconic franchise that popularized dance and rhythm gaming, engaging players with its unique foot-based gameplay.<\/p>\n

Gameplay Overview<\/strong>
Players step on directional arrows on a dance pad to match on-screen prompts, syncing movements to the beat of the music. Steps are graded from “Perfect” to “Miss,” with accuracy affecting the Dance Gauge\u2014a life meter that depletes with mistakes. Success depends on maintaining combos and achieving high scores.<\/p>\n

At the end of each song, players receive a score, combo stats, and a letter grade based on performance. Passing all songs results in a cumulative results screen. Advanced players can unlock the Extra Stage by excelling in the final song.<\/p>\n
