Nutley Wins State Battle in Football League Scheduling

• State Association Revamps Lineupsi perinatal

 – The new revised lineup of high schools in Nutley's football category has been finalized by the N.J. State Interscholastic Athletic Association. The revisions, prompted by a group of high school athletic directors chaired by Nutley's Joe Piro, are designed to make competition more equal among teams.

Here are the teams Nutley will be playing in football: Belleville, Irvington, Parsippany Hills, Passaic Valley, Phillipsburg, Rahway, Roxbury and West Morris.

The new lineup was announced yesterday by state officials. The changes were prompted by a number of private school recruiting state-wide for top players. The resulting powerhouse teams would then go on to perennial victories in state tournaments effectively shutting out any chance of public high schools' from winning regional championships.

Nutley had threatened to leave the state athletic association if changes were not made.
