Cosmo "Gus" Vangieri,

•  World War II Army Veteran

 – Cosmo "Gus" Vangieri, 88 of Ortley Beach and formerly of Nutley, on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Born and raised in Nutley, he lived there until moving to Ortley Beach 25 years ago.

Mr. Vangieri was a material handler with Wilbur B. Driver Inc. in Florham Park for 24 years before retiring. He was an Army World War II veteran participating in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. He was also a former member of the Italian Fiorente Club.

Survived by his wife, Phyllis (Lucchetti) Vangieri, his daughter, Kathy Corsi and his granddaughter, Tina Marie Corsi, he was predeceased by his brothers, Sal, Thomas and Joseph Vangieri.

Funeral 9:30 a.m. Friday from the S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home,, 267 Centre St., Nutley, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Ave., Nutley. Burial follows at the Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm.
