Carmen "Charlie" Capalbo, 90

•  World War II Navy Veteran

 – Carmen "Charlie" Capalbo, 90, of Whiting and formerly of Morris Plains, on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit of St. Clare's Hospital in Dover.

Born in Nutley, he was employed as a wire drawer for Amax Specialty Metals in Newark for over 30 years. He also worked as a dock operator for Kingsway of Canada and the Carlstadt and McMasters Florist in Woodland Park. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate first class aboard the USS LCS(L)(3) 34.

Predeceased by his wife, Helen (nee Sydlewski) Capalbo; two brothers, Pete Capalbo and Jimmy Capalbo, and two sisters, Antoinette Capalbo and Lucy Lillo, he is survived by his longtime companion, Lucille Molnar; three children, Charles Capalbo and his wife Carol, Christine Napovier and her husband Michael, and Richard Capalbo and his wife Marisa; a brother, Frank Capalbo, and five grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Justin, Brittany, and Ashley.

Visiting at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, www.biondifuneralhome.com, 540 Franklin Avenue, on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 1-5 p.m. Services Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment at the Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
