Federal Grant for Smoke Detectors Approved
• 10-Year Units Destined for Sr. Citizen Homes
Aug 1, 2012 – A new $16,830 federal grant for Nutley will be used to provide smoke detectors for senior citizens and low-income residents, U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg reports. The monies were appropriated for Nutley by the Department of Homeland Security.
Formal announcement of the funding was announced in a joint statement by Lautenberg and Sen. Robert Menendez.
The units are designed to last for 10 years, thus eliminating the twice-a-year need to change internal batteries.
Sen. Lautenberg is a member of the Nutley Hall of Fame and a graduate of Nutley High School.
