Eugene worked at the National Biscuit Company in Newark until he was inducted into the army in 1950. He served his country in Korea from 1951-52 as a Corporal with the 8th Army 1092 Engineer Combat Battalion. He was later employed by M&M Trucking and Yellow Trucking companies.

He was a loyal fan of the NY Giants and NY Mets and having no patience for television commercials, preferred to listen to the games on his transistor radio.

He was, over his lifetime, a proud owner of a 1936 Plymouth, a 1942 and a 1952 Buick and a 1957 Chevy. His trips to Poland in 1991 and Las Vegas in 2008 were travel highlights for Gene.
