Petracco Commends Nutley's Educators
• Town Is Pleased With High Ranking of Schools
May 29, 2012 – Mayor Alphonse Petracco today congratulated Superintendent of Schools Russel Lazovick along with Nutley's teachers and the Board of Education for Nutley High's ranking among the top 1,000 list in the country.
"We are very happy to receive this honor, and we see these types of rankings as an important indication of the success of our school district," Mayor Petracco said.
The top 1,000 list was based on four-year graduation rates (25% of the evaluation); percent of students accepted to college (25%); the average number of Advanced Placement and other advanced tests taken by the student body (25%); average SAT/ACT scores (10%); average AP and other advanced tests scores (10%); and the number of AP and advanced classes offered to students (5%).
"The criteria for ranking in this survey are in sync with the overall goal of the Nutley Schools," Mayor Alphonse Petracco said. Upon hearing of the selection, Petracco immediately credited the Superintendent, Board of Education, administration, and teachers for "always seeking ways to improve the Nutley School System.
"We are very happy to receive this honor, and we see these types of rankings as an important indication of the success of our school district," Petracco said.
