Rogers Resigning 11:59 AM From Board of Education
• Discloses He Spent Only $5,000 on Campaign Costs
May 14, 2012 – Steven Rogers, commissioner-elect, in a statement this morning says that he will resign his seat on the Nutley Board of Education at one minute before 12 noon tomorrow. He will take the oath of office as a township commissioner in noon-time ceremonies Tuesday at Town Hall.
Rogers also said today that he spent $5,000 on his campaign for the Commission, far less than other candidates. Formal financial statements as required by law have not yet been available for the candidates.
"Five thousand dollars and five thousand home," Rogers said referring to his walking campaign tour throughout the streets and neighborhoods of Nutley."
In a letter to Schools Superintendent Russ Lazovick and School Board President James Kuchta, Rogers stated that he will be stepping down as a member of the Nutley Board of Education on Tuesday morning at 11:59 a.m.
In his letter Rogers said, "In accordance with New Jersey State Law, I am required to resign my position as a Trustee of the Nutley Board of Education since I was elected to the Nutley Board of Commissioners on May 8, 2012. Therefore, please accept my resignation from the Nutley Board of Education, effective 11:59am, Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
