Tim and Suzanne Maher Mattia Award Winners

•  40th Annnual Dinner and Reception Next Wednesday

 – Nutley's annual Dr. Virginius D. Mattia Public Service Award will be presented next Wednesday, May 2, to Suzanne and Timothy Maher. The event, the 40th annual tribute to persons honored for dedication to community service, is scheduled at Nanina's in the Park and opens with a 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception.

Suzanne for many years has been a volunteer worker with the Nutley Family Bureau and currently serves as its vice president.

Tim Maher has served as a director of the Nutley Invitational Golf Tournament and as the president of that charity raised more than $10,000 during this past year alone for the Nutley Family Service Bureau. For the past 15 years he has been a director of "Nutley Business People," a group raising funds and donating technology to the town's school system. Maher is also is a director of the Family Service Bureau and a regular volunteer at a Thursday afternoon soup kitchen.

Wednesday's dinner also honors Nutley High School senior Jessi-Lynn Minneci for her volunteer work with cerebral palsy patients at Clara Maass Hospital, collections for the March of Dimes and UNICEF and as a leader at the West Orange Equestrian Center for the Hippo Therapy program.

Wednesday's event includes a full course dinner. Tickets are $65 and can be reserved before this weekend by calling Vicki O'Halloran at 973-667-7419.
