School Registration by Appointment Only

• Several Requirements Listed for New Students

 – Registration procedures for new students, kindergarten thru senior high school, have been changed for all Nutley schools and now require an advance appointment by contacting Mrs. Jean Boyle at(973)320-8494. A number of specific documents are also being required.

Once an appointment is made, parents are required by bring several documents relating to proof of residency. These documents include a N.J. driver's license or a township ID with a Nutley address; also bring current utility bills including those for PSE&G, water, cable and telephone.

Additionally, homeowners must provide a mortgage statement or tax bill. For renters, a certified landlord statement and lease agreement must be provided at the time of registration.

Also, parents must provide an original birth certificate for the child, custody papers if applicable, as well as health records including vaccinations for DPT(4), measles (2), Mumps (1), rubella (1), polio (3), varivax (1) and hepatitis B (3). The health records listed are required by New Jersey law. Additionally, a Mantoux test is recommended but not required.

Students transferring from another school must be signed out of the previous district and must obtain a transfer card along with transcripts before being allowed to register in Nutley.

Kindergarten children must have attained the age of five years on or before October 1, 2010, to be eligible for school. This fall marks the first time that Nutley schools are offering an all-day kindergarten sessions.

Elementary pupils in kindergarten thru the sixth grade must be registered in the school district where they reside. If a move is made to another Nutley district after a pupil has registered, the child would be required to attend classes in in the new district.

For elementary pupils, kindergarten thru the sixth grade, registration must be for the school with the local district of residence. If a move is made to another Nutley district, a new registration must be completed and the child would be required to attend classes in that district's school.
