Rogers, Russo
Sposato Elected
In April 2009
Jul 2, 2010 – Apr 21, 2009 - There are nine "provisional" ballots that have yet to be counted and those votes could change the outcome of last night's Board of Education election.
Charles Kucinski presently finished just outside the winner's circle. Kucinski polled 1,632 votes. Tom Sposato finished third in the election with 1,368 votes, just six ahead of Kucinski.
Provisional ballots generally are those where questions arose concerning a person's address or other eligibility-to-vote factors.
Essex County election officials will attempt to resolve the eligibility of the nine votes as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, there's no doubt that Steve Rogers with 2,053 votes and Debbie Russo with 1,643 have both
been elected to three-year terms on the Nutley Board of Education.
And school officials were appreciative and celebrating voters approval of the budget by a 1,807 to 1,652 margin. Schools Superintendent Joseph Zarra said adoption of the budget likely will mean that personnel slated for layoffs in the special education area can be assured that their jobs will still be there in September.
Rogers was top man at the polls with 2,053 votes; he was followed by Russo with 1,643 and Sposato with 1,638. Kucinski finished fourth with 1,632, Lisa Danchak-Martin fifth with 1,241 and Patti Williams, 1,045. There were only 11 votes separating second-place Debbie Russo and fourth-place Charles Kucinski.
