Votes Are Counted for Best Pizza Pie in Town

May 15, 2010 – For the first time, pizza pies crafted and baked by Frankie D's at 227 Centre Street has been judged the number one favorite in Nutley. More than 300 persons voted Frankie"s the top pie in town at the 14th annual Pizza Tasting Contest. The votes were professionally monitored and counted by the Nutley Area League of Women Voters.
The April contest marked the sixth year the league has monitored the votes. A separate contest was also run at the same time for the best pies in Belleville and Bloomfield.
First Place in Belleville went to the Joey's Pizzeria located at 462 Joralemon St. First Place in Bloomfield went to Victorio's Restaurant at 69 Belleville Ave.
Second Place in Nutley was presented to Casa Turano Pizzeria & Restaurant at 660 Passaic Ave, in Bloomfield to Pizza Rustica at 1047 Broad St, and in Belleville to Johnny's at 482 Washington Ave.
Donations from this event will be awarded to a needy Nutley High School senior pursuing a career in Recreational Therapy or Special Education.
