Snow Storm Delays Start
    Of Regional Tournament

- Today's powerful snow storm forced the postponement of Nutley's entry in the State Regional Wrestling Tournament but only until 9 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 27) when quarter-final competition gets underway at West Orange High School.

Nutley's head coach Frank DiPiano has four wrestlers in the competition: senior Dante Montes at 135 pounds, senior Vin Scuttaro at 130 and senior Michael Ferinde at 125 pounds. All qualified by winning their championship rounds in the State Regionals last weekend. Nutley freshman Bobby Trombetta lost his 103 lb. bout to Bloomfield' Chris Rosetti.

Scuttaro's 4:30 decision over Montclair's Evan Miles led to his being named District's 14 "most outstanding wrestler" by the Star-Ledger.

Tomorrow's early morning matches start at 9 a.m., continue with the semi-round bouts at 12 noon and conclude with the championship round at 7 p.m. -- all at West Orange.

Montes reaches the State Regional's after his 3-2 decision over Livingston's Justin Esteves last weekend in the District 14 finals hosted at Livingston. Montes celebrated that win big time: it marked his 100th career victory as a member of the Nutley Raiders wrestling team.

Ferinde reached tomorrow's Regional 4 Finals by pinning Montclair's Ted Brown in 5:02 at last weekend's matches. Nutley senior Vince Scuttaro lost the 130-pound match to Montclair's Evan Miles in 4:30.
