Frances Louise Smith Williams, 93
• A Community Volunteer for Nearly 50 Years
Frances Williams, 93, formerly of Nutley, on March 12, 2010 in Lakewood, Colorado.
A Nutley resident nearly 50 years and an active community volunteer, Mrs. Williams worked for the Guaranty Trust Company in New York City.
For nearly a half-century, she was a active with several community charities and organizations including the Family Service Bureau, Historical Society and the Bethany Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, bell choir member, deacon and elder.
While her children were attending Washington School, she served as president of the Mothers Club and was a leader of both the Girl and Boy Scouts. She later became a secretary for the Board of Education.
Following her retirement in the 1980's, she served as the secretary for the Nutley Historical Society and was active at Bethany Presbyterian Church as a Sunday school teacher, bell choir member, deacon, and elder.
Born in New Brunswick, she moved to Brookfield Ave., Nutley, with her parents and brothers in 1940. in 1916. Her family moved to Metuchen during World War II, but she returned to Nutley after marrying Gwynne Pierce Williams of Englewood, Colorado, in 1946.
Predeceased by her husband, Gwynne, and a brother, Daniel, Mrs. Williams is survived by a brother, Henry, and her children, Velma Williams-Gates of Somerset, G. Pierce Williams of Brooklyn, Ross Williams and his wife Janet of Lakewood, and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Pamela, and Jennifer.
No memorial services are currently planned. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Alzheimer Association (Bpx 96011 Washington DC 20090-6011) or the Bethany Presbyterian Church of Bloomfield Memorial Fund. Mrs. Williams will be interred next to her husband at Rosedale Cemetery in West Orange.

• Resident of Nutley 40 Years
Peter Samuelson, 72, of Nutley, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Mr. Samuelson retired two years ago as a truck drive after 18 years with Steinway Moving & Storage of Long Island City, N.Y.,
Born in New York City, he lived in Woodside, N.Y. settling in Nutley 40 years ago. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era.
He is survived by his wife, Annette M. (Cusumano) Samuelson; his children, Melissa Tronziger and her husband Scott, and Paul M. Samuelson and his wife Toni; his siblings, Astrid Bucca, Emil, Albert and Edward Samuelson, and his grandchildren, Julia and Peter Samuelson. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Fiore, and a brother, Carl.

Joseph J. Di Giacomo, 57
• Roche Supervisor, Nutley Recreation Coach
Joseph J. Di Giacomo, 57 a life long resident of Nutley, on Saturday March 6, 2010. Mr. Di Giacomo was a supervisor of Johnson Controls at Hoffmann LaRoche, Nutley. He also was inducted into the New Jersey ASA Hall of Fame this year.
He attended Bloomfield College on a baseball scholarship where he was named all conference and all state. He coached baseball, basketball and soccer for the Nutley Recreation Dept. and was on the golf, basketball, volleyball, slow and fast pitch softball and bowling team at Roche
The husband of Anne L. (Von Hoene) Di Giacomo, he also is survived by a son, Joseph M. Di Giacomo; a daughter, Corrine Lemma, and a sister, Ginny De Vito.

Claire L. Nelson (nee Scanlon), 86, a Eucharistic minister and former trustee of Holy Family Church in Nutley, on Monday, March 1, at her Belleville home.
Mrs. Nelson was also a former member of the Holy Family School Board of Education, a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the N.J. Education Association.
She earned her bachelor's degree at Marymount College and a master's in English and history at Montclair State Teachers College. She also was an English and history teacher at Weehawken High School from 1956 until her retirement in 1992.
The wife of the late John J. Nelson, she is survived by her brother, John Scanlon; her niece, Doreen, and her nephew, Michael.

Anna Marie D'Aluisio, 96, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
Born in New York City to Salvatore and Christina (nee Delicata) Apruzzese, Mrs. D'Aluisio lived in Jersey City, Lodi, and for the past few years in Paramus.
She was a member of the Rosary Society, Prayer Group and Bible Study, all of St. Francis De-Sales Church.
Services 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Megaro Memorial Home, 503 Union Ave., Belleville, with a 10 a.m. mass at St. Francis DeSales Church, 125 Union St., Lodi. Interment at the church cemetery. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. D'Aluisio is survived by her son, Thomas and his wife, Gloria, of Nutley; a sister, Jean Satriano; six grandchildren, Linda Dudek and her husband, Joseph, John Mannion and his wife, Audrey, Andrea Robinson and her husband, Samuel, and Jennifer Zichelli and her husband, James, and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. D'Aluisio was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Florence Mannion; brothers, Neil, Carl and Joseph Apruzzese, and sister, Antoinette DeVito.

Walter Wesolowski, 93
• Received Purple Heart for Wounds in World War II
Walter Wesolowski, 93, of Nutley, on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Mr. Wesolowski was the recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds he received in the Battle of Monte Cassino during World War II.
Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Newark before moving to Nutley 47 years ago. Mr. Weslowski worked many years as a sorting machine operator for the Newark office of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of both American Legion Post 300 in Newark and the Polish Falcons of America, Nest 104.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor (Karkut) Wesolowski; a son, Theodore Wesolowski and his wife, Rose, and two grandsons, Christopher and Matthew.

George Joseph Catrambrone, Jr., 96
• WW II Army Veteran, Served Under Eisenhower

George Joseph Catrambone, Jr., 96, on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at his Nutley home. Mr. Catrambone was a retired financial cost analyst after 46 years with the Prudential Insurance Co. in Newark. He was the father of Nutley High School principal Gregory Catrambone.
A longtime resident of Nutley, Mr. Catrambone was a civic contributor serving as a charter member of the Nutley First Aid Squad during the 1950's, an active member of the Nutley AARP Chapter, a proud challenger at the local election poles, a parent volunteer in the Nutley Boy Scouts and a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Church.
Born June 23, 1913 in Harrison and a former resident of Kearny, he served as one of General Eisenhower's personal MP's during World War II in the European and African Theatres. After the war, he met his wife, Betty Cuidera of Newark and they resided in Nutley for 61 years where they raised their daughter and two sons.
Predeceased by his parents, George and Anna (nee Marino) Catrambone, his brother Alfred and his wife of 55 years, Betty "Bessie" (nee Cuidera), Mr. Catrambone is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marianne Lee and Peter Piro of Verona and Belmar; two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Fran of Wall Township, and Gregory and Mary Ann of Colonia, and six grandchildren, Todd and Scott Piro, George and Kristen Catrambone and Heather and April Catrambone.

John J. "Jack" Dwyer, 84, of Nutley, on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at the Wanaque Center. Mr. Dwyer was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Born in Newark and a resident of Kearny before moving to Nutley 12 years ago, Mr,. Dwyer was a chemist for Mass & Walstein of Newark. He was a member of the Nutley Old Guard Old Guard's Bowling League.
The husband of Geraldine (Siciliano) Dwyer, he also is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jerry Fredella; a son and daughter-in-law, John G. "Jack" and Meg Dwyer; five grandchildren, Stacy and Sean Dwyer, Brittany Bauer, and Jerardo and Anthony Joseph Fredella, and a great-grandson, Justin Michael.

Frances (Naturale) Mattarochio, 91, on Monday, February 15, 2010, at her Nutley home. Born in Newark, she lived in Nutley for most of her life.
The wife of the late Anthony Mattarochio, she is survived by two daughters, Joyce Catanese and Robyn Mattarochio; two grandchildren, Faith Zita and her husband Mark, and Anthony Catanese and his wife Leslie Ann, and a great-granddaughter, Amanda.
Mrs. Mattarochio also was predeceased by seven sisters and four brothers.

John J. Brennan, 82, of Sarasota, FL and formerly of Newark, on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Sarasota.
Mr. Brennan was a retired chemical engineer with Local 68 Operating Engineers and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of VFW Post and the Vailsburg Lions Club.
The husband for 47 years of Angelina (Dispenziere) Brennan, he also is survived by two step sons, Stephen Sterusky and his wife Sandra of Nutley, and Nicholas Lorusso of Pine Brook; three grandchildren, Stephen Sterusky, Patricia Spinelli and her husband Raymond, and Maria Sterusky; four great-grandchildren, Daniel Yeingst, Samantha Sterusky, Michael Spinelli and Alexa Spinelli, and several nieces and nephews. Robert J. Miller, 71, on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at his Nutley home. Mr. Miller retired as the deputy chief of the Newark Fire Department in 1995.
A veteran of the United States Navy and a graduate of William Paterson College, Mr. Mill worked for the Newark Fire Dept. from 1962 until 1995.

Dolores R. (Fellrath) Rodgers Colosi, 74, of North Arlington, on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville. She resided in Nutley before moving to North Arlington 35 years ago.
Mrs. Colosi was an assistant administrator for Johnsbury Trucking in Kearny for 24 years before here retirement 16 years ago.
The wife of Francis Colosi and the late Hugh Rodgers, Jr., she is survived by by daughters and sons-in-law, Renee R. and Nicholas Cultrara, and Roxanne M. and Paul Chaves; three step-children, Lisa Bennett and Michael and Robert Colosi; three grandchildren, Samantha, Christopher and Kevin, and eight step-grandchildren.

Owen J. Haveron
• County Budget Officer, Grand Knight at St. Mary's Council
Owen J. Haveron, of Nutley, on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, following a short illness. Mr. Haveron retired in 1995 as budget officer for the Essex County Probation Department.
Raised in Newark and a resident of Nutley for many years, Mr. Haveron was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University in South Orange.
The son of the late Patrick and Margaret Haveron, he served in the military police during the Korean War. Following his college years, he held a variety of positions in the private sector, primarily in banking and government.
A former Grand Night of St. Mary's Knights of Columbus Council, Mr. Haveron was a devoted member of the church serving on its pastoral council, as an usher and Eucharistic minister and as a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He also headed the St. Mary's Parish food pantry.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Noreen (Lavan) K. Haveron; four children, Patrick, Mary, Noreen and Owen, and eight grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Sean Haveron, Kathryn, Nicolas and Alexandra Balitos, and Olivia and James Haveron. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Haveron, two daughters-in-law, Mary and Melanie Haveron, a son-in-law, Timothi Balitsos, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mrs. Maria C. Mac Munn, 82, a pioneer business woman and well-known realtor in Nutley, on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Bristol Glen, a retirement community in Newton. Mrs. Mac Munn was a prominent realtor for over 50 years selling real estate in Nutley and Sparta.
Born in Scranton, Pa., where she lived until moving to Newark in 1942, Mrs. Mac Munn began her business career in the insurance industry shortly after her graduation at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. In 1957, she and her husband formed the George E. Mac Munn Co. Inc., a real estate and insurance firm in Nutley. They also owned and managed a second real estate office in Sparta from 1987 to 1997.
She was a member of the Board of Realtors of Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, Nutley and Belleville, and a member of the Nutley Lions Auxiliary, working extensively with its eye-screening program.
Mrs. Mac Munn was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church where she was a past member of the Parish Council and the Theater Guild.
She was the wife for more than 50 years of George Mac Munn who died in January 2000. Mrs. Mac Munn also was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Joseph Scholz, and seven brothers, Joseph, William Paul, Robert, Eugene, Gerald, Charles and James.
Mrs. Mac Munn is survived by a daughter, Maria Mac Munn Beardmore and her husband, Mark; a grandson, Mark M. Beardmore; a sister, Peg Scholz Lewan and her husband, Tony, and a sister-in-law, Alice Mac Munn Burke and her husband, Ed.

• He Raced at the Meadowlands and at Freehold
Vincent S. Doherty, 81, of Nutley, on Friday, February 12, 2010, at the Cedar Hill Care Center in Cedar Grove. a Harness Horseman, he raced at the Meadowlands as well as at the Freehold Raceway.
Born in Athboy, County Meath, Ireland, Mr,. Doherty had resided in Nutley for the past 48 years. Before his retirement, he was a steam fitter for the Steam Fitters Union Local #475 in Warren. NJ. A veteran of the Royal Air Force, he raised, trained and drove horses. He was also a member of the Friends of Bill.
He is survived by his wife, Grace G. (Orth) Doherty, three children, Tracy Nutile, Claire G., Andra J. and Michael H. Doherty; a sister, Angela O'Connor; a brother, Desmond O'Doherty, and seven grandchildren.
